The emergency lighting system used in China is mainly based on its own power supply and independent control type. The normal power supply is connected to the power supply circuit of ordinary lighting, and the emergency lamp battery is charged at ordinary times. When the normal power supply is cut off, the standby power supply (battery) is automatically supplied. This form of emergency lamp every lamp has a large number of electronic components, such as variable voltage, stable voltage, charging, inverter, battery, etc., the emergency lamp in use, maintenance, failure of the battery are required to charge and discharge. The other is the centralized power control type. There is no independent power supply in the emergency lamps. In case of failure of normal lighting power supply, the power is supplied by the centralized power supply system. In this form of emergency lighting, all the complex electrical circuits inside the lamps are eliminated. Emergency lighting is the same as ordinary lamps, and the centralized power supply system is set up in a dedicated room.

Compared with the self-controlled emergency lamps, the centralized power supply centralized control emergency lamps have the advantages of convenient centralized management, self-examination by users, fire supervision and inspection, prolongation of lamp life, and improvement of emergency evacuation efficiency, etc., with good system reliability, long service life, convenient maintenance and management, and low system price. However, there is no backup power (accumulator) in each emergency lamp. If the power supply line fails, it will directly affect the normal operation of the emergency lighting system. Therefore, there are special fire protection requirements for the power supply line laying. As there is a backup power supply (battery) in each emergency lamp, there is no special requirement for the power supply line. Failure of the power supply line will not affect the role of the backup power supply. When the emergency lamp breaks down, it generally only affects the lamp itself and has little influence on the whole system.

When selecting emergency lighting, the emergency lighting system should be selected reasonably according to the specific situation. Generally speaking, for new projects or projects with fire control rooms, unified wiring should be used in the construction process as far as possible, and centralized power supply and centralized control emergency lighting should be selected. For small places, late rectification or secondary renovation of the project should be the use of power supply independent control of emergency lighting.
